Urinary Tract Infections

The following are natural alternative remedies for Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs):

  1. Baking Soda: To make your bladder more alkaline to inhibits the growth of bacteria, drink a solution made with 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda mixed in 8 ounces of water at the first sign of symptoms. Continue once a day until you see a doctor, get a culture, and get treatment.
  2. Cranberry Juice: Cranberry juice has been shown to have positive effects on UTIs. Make sure the cranberry juice is 100% juice without added sugar or corn syrup. Quality cranberry juice produces hippuric acid in the urine which acidifies the urine and prevents bacteria from sticking to the walls of the bladder. If pure cranberry juice is not available, cranberry capsules can be substituted. They can be found in most health food stores. Always take these with a large glass of water.
