HEALTH CONCERNS
Is this chemical a  carcinogen? Possibly, but only with conditions below.

In the presence of nitrosating agents, acetamide MEA may form N-nitroso compounds, which are potential carcinogens.

Therefore, cosmetics and personal care products containing acetamide MEA should not contain nitrosating agents or significant amounts of free acetamide.

How can it affect me? Acetamide MEA is considered safe at 7.5% or less for leave-on products and safe for use in rinse-off products.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) includes acetamide MEA on its list of approved indirect food additives. It is permitted for use as a component of adhesives having incidental contact with food.
